Text Appearing After Image: Heavy 2-10-2 Type Locomotive for the Baltimore & Ohio 456 September. 1914 RAILW.AV AGE GAZETTE. MECHAXICAL EDITION 45/ by double rows of 14 in. bolts. The steam distribution is con-trolled by 16 in. piston valves, driven by Walschaert motion andset with a lead of 54 in. The valves have a steam lap of 14 in.,and are line and line on their exhaust edges; the Ragonnetpower reverse mechanism is applied. Xo vacuum relief valvesare used, but the cylinders are equipped with by-pass valves ofthe Sheedy pattern. The cylinders and steamchests are lined with bushings of Hunt-Spiller metal, and the piston and valve packing rings are of the extend the full depth of the frames. The rear frame seotivinsare spliced lo the main frames immediately back of the reardriving pedestals, and are braced by a steel casting which servesthe triple purpose of a crosstie, a support for the front end ofthe firebox, and a carrier for the radius bar pin of the trailingtruck.
