Hewas baptized when eight years old,and was set apart Jan. 30, 1908, forhis mission by Pres. Joseph F. Smith. South American Mission Presidents: Melvin J. Ballard, 1925-1926; K. B. Reinhold Stoof, 1926-1935.Prior to this (in 1851-1852), ApostleParley P. Pratt and Elder Rufus Allenfilled a short mission to South Amer-ica. STOOF, K. B. Reinhold, presidentof the South American Mission from1926 to 1935, was born Jan. 12, 1887,at Plauveninsel, Prussia, Germany, ason of Frederick W. Stoof and Karo-line Schuler. He was baptized Sept.21, 1907, set apart for his mission 380 LATTER-DAY SAINT May 4, 1926, and returned Oct. 16,1935. He was accompanied by hiswife, Martha F. E. Stoof, a daughterof Paul Hurte and Pauline Stiller,who was born Oct. 1, 1900, at Seifers-dorf, Prussia, Germany. BALLARD, Melvin J., president ofthe South American Mission from Text Appearing After Image: Dec. 6, 1925, to July 23, 1926. (SeeBio. Ency., Vol. 1, p. 419, and Vol. 3,p. 744.) Southern States Mission Presidents: Henry G. Boyle, 1875-1878; John Morgan, 1878-1888; Wil-liam Spry, 1888-1891; J. Golden Kim-ball, 1891-1894; Elias S. Kimball,1894-1898; Benjamin E. Rich, 1898-1902; EphraimH. Nye, 1902-1903;Benjamin E. Rich (second term), 1903-1908; Charles A. Callis, 1908-1934. The Middle States Mission was or-ganized from a part of the SouthernStates Mission in 1902, but was unitedagain with the Southern States Mis-sion in 1903. BOYLE, Henry Green, president ofthe Southern States Mission from1875 to 1878, was born March 7, 1824,in Tazewell County, Viiginia, the sonof John Boyle and Jane E. Taylor. Hewas baptized Nov. 20, 1843, came toNauvoo, 111., from Virginia in 1845, after laboring about a year as a mis-sionary.
