The breadth of the mortise and the thickness of the tenon are set out with the mortise gauge. 3. The mortise is cut out with the mortise chisel. 4. The tenon is made with the bow-saw, firmer chisel, and tenon-saw. 5. The parts are fitted together with the help of the firmer chisel. 1. The piece to be strengthened is held close to the other piece with the handscrew. 2. The blocks are made with the dove-tail saw and the chisel. 3.
