Text Appearing Before Image: 6, 1897, at Randolph, Utah,a son of Oliver Jacobson and EmmaJane Thornock. He was baptized June2, 1906, by F. Hunsaker, ordained aDeacon Dec. 11, 1911, by P. E. Dun-ford, ordained a Priest Nov. 27, 1915,by his father and ordained an ElderNov. 26, 1921, by Clarence Aston. OnDec. 1, 1921, he was set apart for amission to New Zealand by Joseph F.Smith, jun. In June, 1924, while stilllaboring as a missionary, he wasthrown from a horse and kicked in thehead. He was able to remount and rideto an emergency hospital, where he x-eceived treatment, but the followingday was transferred to the hospitalat Neunka, where he remained fora month, until he died, July 18, 1924.His remains were sent to his parentsin Idaho, where funeral services wereheld at Bancroft, Sept. 23, 1924, at-tended by Elders Rufus K. Text Appearing After Image: 1815, and learned the blacksmith tradewhen a very young man. He joineda religious movement in Copenhagenin 1834, and became a member of afaction of the Lutheran Church, calledKirketroende. In 1839, when thefirst Baptist missionaries came fromHamburg to Copenhagen, he becamefascinated by the Bible doctrinestaught by them, was shortly after-wards baptized and made a memberof the first Baptist church in Scan-dinavia. Shortly afterwards he wentas a Baptist missionary to the city ofAalborg, Jutland, where he succeededin raising up a branch of that church,of which he was appointed president,or Forstander. About the same timehe laid the foundation of a flourishing BIOGRAPHICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA 149 foundry and blacksmithing business inthe adjacent town of Norre Sundby, inwhich he was very successful, andsoon became a man of considerablemeans and influence.
