They arc distinguished as a group fromother birds of the petrel family by having the hind toerudimentary, and the tidnilar nostrils separated, otie oneach side of the base of the tipper mandible. The bill isstout and hooked .at the end, the wings are very long, thetail and feet short, and the stature is very great.
