Op het Y,voor Amsterdam, waar een flinke bries staat, ligt een drie-master op tegenwind, gereed om voor anker te gaan. Eenkotter komt langs zij en neemt zijn zeil in. Links en rechtstwee speeljachten met fraai spiegelwerk, waarvan een devlag der Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie voert. Schuinslinks voor den boeg van het groote schip merkt men eentweeden driemaster op. In het verschiet teekent zich hetsilhouet van de stad af: duidelijk onderscheidt men denWesterkerkstoren, den koepel van het Stadhuis, den Oude-kerkstoren, den Haringpakkerstoren en de Eilandskerk.Gemerkt op de groote vlag van het fregat.
