In 1934 he was ap-pointed secretary and treasurer of theLehi Irrigation Company, which officehe still holds. On June 14, 1923, he married MaesaL. Anderson (daughter of Andrew B.Anderson and Hannah Evans) in theSalt Lake Temple. Four children haveblessed this union, namely, Calvin A.,LeRee, Wayne A., and Morris A. HARDY, Rufus Kay, one of the firstSeven Presidents of Seventy, wasborn May 28, 1878, in Salt Lake City,the son of Rufus H. Hardy and Annie Kay. From his childhood he wastrained to take an active part inChurch affairs and was baptized, June1, 1886, by John Cottam. Continuinghis labors in the Church, he wasordained successively to the offices ofDeacon, Teacher and Priest, and wasordained an Elder May 3, 1897, byElder Joseph Barnes. He was or-dained a Seventy July 2, 1897, byApostle John Henry Smith and setapart for a mission to New Zealand.

Z., August9, 1897, he was assigned to labor inthe Tauranga District and was latertransferred to the Waikato District.He returned from this mission Jan. 1,1901. On May 3, 1906, he was setapart as one of the presidents of the8th Quorum of Seventy by J. GoldenKimball. On April 2, 1903, he marriedAddie Eldredge, daughter of JoshuaEldredge and Lizzie Winder, and earlyin 1907 was called to preside over theNew Zealand Mission. To this posi-tion he was set apart Feb. 18, 1907,by Pz-es. Joseph F. Smith; his wife,who accompanied him, was set aparton the same occasion by Pres. JohnR. Winder. Bro. and Sister Hardyreturned from this mission in July,1909, after which Elder Hardy con- Vol. I\-.
