Summary

[edit]
Description

These two IL-76 variants appear to have been stored on the Ilyushin OKB ramp for some time. Nearest is IL-76LL4 'RA-76529' c/n 0073410308, l/n 08-07. This aircraft was originally operated by Iraqi Airways as 'YI-AIP'. Returned to Russia, it was converted into an engine test bed for the D-236T propfan engine with SV-36 prop, and was operated by LII Zhukovsky. It later carried the D-27 propfan with SV-27 prop as used on the An-70. It is now stored without engines. Behind it is the prototype IL-78M 'Midas' tanker aircraft 'RA-76701', c/n 0063471139, l/n 54-05. These were seen from our coach as we departed the Russian Air Force 100th Anniversary Airshow, hence the reflections visible on the shot. Zhukovsky, Russia.
