hepresent handsome 7-story building, at the corner of Main andGranby streets, has replaced the structure which was burnedseveral years ago, during Norfolks great fire. This is a modernhotel, and one of the features is a rathskeller for ladies andgentlemen. The Monticello is on City Hall Avenue, and occupys theentire block between Granby Street and Monticello Avenue.This is a practically new 6-story fire-proof building, with allmodern improvements, and the design is very unique andattractive. The magnificent and spacious lobby is a feature ofthis famous hostelry. It is conducted on the European plan,exclusively. The Hotel Lorraine is on the corner of Granby and Tazewellstreets. This is a new 7-story building, with all modern improve-ments, and is fire-proof. While it is not considered a very largehotel, it is one of the handsomest in design and equipment in theSouth. The principal features of this hotel are an elegant cafefor ladies and gentlemen, and a very attractive stag grill room.

The Citizens Bank—Main Street 26 PROMINENT HOTELS 27 Hotel Fairfax is located on City Hall Avenue, corner ofRandolph Street. This .hotel has just been completed. It is an8-story fire-proof building of the most modern construction andimprovements, and is a notable addition to Norfolks rapidlyincreasing list of handsome hotels. The Lynnhaven. This magnificent hotel has also just beencompleted. It stands at the corner of Freemason and Granbystreets. The building is 10 stories high, modern in everyparticular, fire-proof, and is furnished in a most luxuriousmanner. It contains elegant cafes and rathskeller for ladiesand gentlemen.
