ntre hall being adorned with many portraits of judges.The grounds encircling the magnificent structure compriseabout six acres. NORMAL AND MODEL SCHOOLS. On Church, Gerrard and Gould Streets, upon one of themost attractive spots in Toronto, are the buildings andgrounds of the Normal and Model Schools. The buildingsare situated upon the centre of an open square of aboutseven and one-half acres of ground. The EducationalMuseum, in connection with the schools, contains speci-mens of Canadian Natural History, and a variety of maps,charts, diagrams, philosophical apparatus and school furni-ture. It also contains an extensive collection of copies ofcelebrated Dutch and Flemish oil paintings and engrav-ings, and casts of some of the most noted groups ofstatuary, together with a collection of English, Canadianand classical busts. It is well worth a visit. Open daily.9 to 5. Admission free. 42 A new building for the Department of Pedagogy hasbeen completed on Bloor Street, n^ar Spadina Avenue.

UPPER CANADA COLLEGE. At the head of Avenue Road rise the stately buildingsof Upper Canada College, a select school for boys, whichinstitution, founded in 1829. for many years occupied acommodious row of brick buildings on King Street West,opposite the old Government House, where now stand busyfactories with hundreds of employees. The grounds sur-rounding the College are extensive and well laid out, andthe interior equipment of the structures all that modernart and appliances can make it. ST. MICHAELS CATHEDBAL. On Bond Street, comer of Shuter, is a fine example ofgothic architecture. The interior is beautifully decorated,and it contains many handsome windows, notably one im-ported from France many years ago, representing the Cru-cifixion, which is back of the main altar, and was madeby a celebrated artist name Thevenot. It also contains amagnificent organ with a peculiarly rich tone, due to theage of the pedal pipes, which were a portion of the old 43 organ now replaced. This church,
