366 .364—(.3) Gaston de Foes Equestrian figure. 1H.3H. Antique green patina, mounted on acarved teakwood and plush top stand. Elaborate housings forthe horse, which bear in low-relief the armorial bearings of thenoble Gascon, fluted body armor over chain under-shirt, bras-sards, cuissards, gambords, long spurs and finally a long trun-cheon—all these points in the war-dress of a warrior and hissteed give great interest to this statuette. It is Gaston de Foixwithout a helmet, wearing his hair long. The statuette belongsto a series made by Barye during the thirties and forties, toplease the nobles and royalist party generally. Signed n the base, Barye. Height, 13% inches; length, 11;, niches. 365--(1) Arab Killing a Lion Bronze group. Antique green patina. On ebonized wood stand.Spirited group of Algerine Arab spearing a lion while his horsereals with fright. The calm face of the rider contrasts with theopen-mouthed excitement of his mount and the helpless fury ofthe lion. Go
