Description
Português: Famosa pela pesca, pela gastronomia e pela cultura das desfiadeiras de siri, a Ilha das Caieiras é um dos bairros mais antigos de Vitória. A comunidade teve origem ainda durante a colonização do Espírito Santo, e, segundo dados da Prefeitura de Vitória, foi ocupada no início do século XX devido ao transporte do café que era produzido na região Serrana e transportado pelos rios Santa Maria e Bubu. Os rios desembocavam no manguezal em frente à Ilha, que era um ponto de parada. Ao longo dos anos, as famílias desenvolveram a atividade da pesca e do desfio de siri.
