DescriptionIgrexa de San Nicolao de Cis, Oza dos Ríos.jpg | "Era un mosteiro de carácter patrimonial, é dicir, sometido mediante un "pactum" co seu abade, á poderosa familia que o fundou. Desde os seus inicios ata 1108 foi ademais dúplice, isto é, con monxes e monxas compartindo o mesmo edificio. O malestar por esta duplicidade supuxo un soado preito a principios do século XII, cando o mosteiro pertencía ao conde don Pedro Foliás. Todo empezou cando en 1108 o abade benedictino, don Nuño, seguindo o disposto polo papa Pascual II, expulsou do mosteiro ás monxas. Ao conde don Pedro molestoulle tal decisión e inmediatamente expulsou ao abade. Pero o papa Pascual II ordenou ao bispo de Compostela, Diego II, que o abade fose restituído e que as monxas instalásense efectivamente noutro lugar, quedando o abade de Cines na obrigación de prover o necesario para a súa alimentación e vestido. Don Pedro acudiu a Roma a ver ao papa coa documentación que demostraba que el era o lexítimo dono do mosteiro, e así, en 1110 reclamou ao bispo de Toledo, don Bernardo, e ao de Compostela, don Diego, que volvesen as monxas, e, se non fose posible, que levasen a máis monxes..."para que non se perda a vida monástica". As monxas nunca regresaron e a vida monástica perdeuse: tras os séculos de esplendor, a desamortización de Mendizábal de 1836 supuxo a exclaustración dos monxes e que as propiedades do mosteiro pasasen ao Estado, o que levou ao convento a un estado ruinoso". |
