Igreja edificada por D. Gualdim Pais na segunda metade do séc. XIII, composta por três naves definidas por arcos ogivais. Diz-se que poderá ter sido a primeira sede da Ordem do Templo. No seu interior podemos encontrar os túmulos de D. Gualdim Pais e de D. Diogo Pinheiro, 1º Bispo do Funchal. Evidenciam-se no interior com cobertura de madeira, as capelas laterais (séc. XVI) e o púlpito renascentista. A Sacristia contempla uma abóbada quinhentista e uma janela manuelina. No exterior, na fachada, salienta-se a grande rosácea e o pórtico gótico com arquivoltas semi-circulares assentes em colunelos com capitéis de feição naturalista. Na fachada sul podemos observar um alpendre colunado. Mesmo em frente à Igreja, encontra-se uma Torre de planta rectangular composta por dois andares.
