Description

Construída em meados do século XIII ao estilo românico, apresenta simultaneamente linhas arquitectónicas góticas. Foram efectuadas diversas durante os séculos XVI, XVII e XVIII, com vista a impedir a sua degradação uma vez que se localiza numa praça multifuncional, já utilizada até, como praça de touros, e onde teve sede a confraria do Santo Cristo, a mais importante da cidade. Na fachada principal, o portal é de estilo maneirista e, no interior, existe a capela do Santo Cristo, construída no século XVII, com cobertura ogival. Na primeira metade do século XVIII, a construção do arco triunfal, do altar e do tecto em talha dourada, definem uma intervenção perfeitamente barroca. Encastrados na fachada principal existem um chafariz, com as armas reais e a data de 1746, um passo oitecentista, que atesta a importância da semana santa em Bragança, e um Painel de azulejos, comemorativo da proclamação do General Sepúlveda contra a invasão francesa, em 1808. <a href="http://www.cm-braganca.pt/PageGen.aspx?WMCM_PaginaId=40759&pontoInteresseId=40938" rel="nofollow">www.cm-braganca.pt/PageGen.aspx?WMCM_PaginaId=40759&p...</a>
