Description

A Igreja de São Francisco apresenta um estilo fiel ao barroco rococó e é considerada o mais importante monumento histórico-artístico religioso, dentro do conjunto de que faz parte (Nóbrega, 1982). Começou a ser construída em 1589 e só foi completamente terminada em 1788. Chegou a servir de residência a diretores holandeses (CPCH, 1999), durante a invasão holandesa, período no qual teve suas obras interrompidas (Nóbrega, 1982).
