A Igreja de São Domingos ou Igreja de Santa Cruz pertencia ao antigo Convento de Santa Cruz, fundado pelo dominicano D. Frei Bartolomeu dos Mártires, o Arcebispo Santo beatificado pelo Papa João Paulo II, que ficou célebre pela sua participação no Concílio de Trento. É um templo quinhentista, construído entre 1566 e 1576, segundo o traçado do dominicano Frei Julião Romero, o mesmo autor da Igreja de São Gonçalo de Amarante. No interior, podem admirar-se vários altares de belíssima talha dourada, com destaque para o grandioso retábulo do braço norte do transepto, em “talha gorda”, da autoria do mestre bracarense José Alvares de Araújo, a partir do desenho encomendado ao mestre André Soares pela confraria do Rosário, em 1760.
