Description Conheça uma das igrejas mais emblemáticas de Lisboa, que alia a sua extrema beleza a um passado sinistro. Entre o Rossio e a Praça da Figueira, encontra a Igreja de São Domingos, uma das igrejas mais bonitas da cidade. Foi construída no século XIII, por ordem de D. Sancho II, mas as obras, remodelações, terramotos e incêndios mudaram por completo a sua estrutura medieval inicial. Nesta igreja, onde todas as solenidades nacionais e reais foram celebradas, de exéquias, a batizados e casamentos; a história mostra também o seu lado negro. Era daqui que saíam os condenados por heresia, no vizinho Palácio da Inquisição, para serem executados em praça pública, no Rossio. O estilo arquitetónico e decorativo da Igreja de São Domingos é muito diversificado, principalmente pelas remodelações forçadas após o terramoto de 1755 e do grande incêndio de 1959. Mas ainda vai conseguir encontrar a capela-mor projetada pelo arquiteto Ludovice, e os vestígios do calor nas pedras partidas do chão.
