Description

Também conhecida como Igreja das Chagas do Salvador, a sua fundação atribui-se a Dom Afonso Henriques, mas a actual igreja remonta aos séculos XVII e XVIII.

De planta rectangular, apresenta uma fachada com frontão triangular e torre sineira lateral.

Na fachada lateral oposta, arcadas delimitam portas de acesso ao interior.

É composta por uma única nave, coberta com abóbada de berço.

Um arco triunfal de volta perfeita destaca o espaço preenchido pela capela-mor, onde se pode apreciar o retábulo marmoreado e painéis de azulejos com imagens da vida da Virgem.

Sobre o arco, podem observar-se pinturas representando os evangelistas.

Talha dourada remata em beleza o conjunto decorativo, valorizando o altar-mor.

A igreja possui imagens alusivas à batalha de Ourique, à semelhança da Basílica Real.
