Description
Português: Igreja Matriz de São Jorge – Praça Rui Barbosa Localizada na Rua Conselheiro Dantas, Centro, a Igreja Matriz São Jorge foi inaugurada em 1556, construída com pedras de cantaria e atualmente é a Igreja mais antiga do centro de Ilhéus. Sofreu diversas reformas através dos séculos, porém conservou seu estilo primitivo. Aí funciona o Museu de Arte Sacra de Ilhéus que guarda uma imagem secular de São Jorge, valiosas peças sacras dos Séculos XVI, XVII e XVIII e um painel da história de Ilhéus.
