Summary
[edit]DescriptionIfield glass 7.jpg |
English: The second south aisle window of St Margaret's Church, Ifield, West Sussex. It was made in 1927 by the firm of James Powell & Sons. The window commemorates George Augustus Pepper Staveley (died 1890), his second wife Jessie Louisa Macfarlan (died 1925), and a grandson George Staveley Aitchison. The escutcheon on the left is for Pepper Staveley, blazoned "gules on a chevron between three demi-lions rampant and in chief a cross crosslet fitchy or a trefoil between two anchors sable".[1] On the right: Q1 and Q4 are close to Aitchison arms and Q3 to a Rookeby blazon, Rooke being a name in Jessie's family (Burke, General Armorial), with Q2 as before. |
