English: The Sultanate of Oman deposited on March 30 2021 its instrument of accession of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications ("Geneva Act") with WIPO Director General Daren Tang (right).
The instrument of accession was deposited by Ambassador Idris Abdul Rahman Al Khanjari (left), Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations Office at Geneva. The Geneva Act provides producers of quality products linked to origin, with faster and cheaper access to the international protection of their products' distinctive designations. It further develops the legal framework of the Lisbon System, which helps promote many globally marketed products such as, for example, Bananas of Costa Rica, Champagne, Tuscan Oil, or Bohemia Crystal. Omani GIs include: Omani Frankincense, Al-Saidi Dagger, Cows of the South of Oman, Green Mountain Goats, Al-Jabali Goats, Al-Batinah Goats, Al-Dhofari Goats and Omani Lamb. Copyright: WIPO.
