Idols of Goddess Kali in making in the workshops in Kolkata before Kali Puja
Summary
[edit]DescriptionIdols of Goddess Kali in making.jpg |
English: Kali or Kalika is a major Hindu goddess associated with time, change, creation, power, destruction and death in Shaktism. Kali is the first of the ten Mahavidyas in the Hindu tantric tradition. A celebration of Kali Puja in Kolkata is held in a large cremation ground as Kali is believed to dwell in cremation grounds. She is worshipped at night with tantric rites and mantras. There are designated areas where the workmen make different styles of hundreds of idols of Kali in their workshops and people go there to choose and buy their favorite style of idol. Each idol can be unique in its design and creativity.
