Español: Ceiba de San Francisco. Se trata de una Ceiba hermosa que decora el frente de la Iglesia San Francisco. Cuentan que "durante el gobierno de Guzmán Blanco, se rodeó el tronco del árbol con una defensa de cal y canto con instalaciones de madera para servir de escritorio y recadero para los comerciantes y corredores que laboraban originariamente en la Esquina La Bolsa, al momento de registrar sus transacciones. Este hecho sirvió de inspiración para el actual logotipo de la Bolsa de Valores de Caracas, el cual presenta un dibujo del árbol en primer plano, con la iglesia de San Francisco y el Palacio de las Academias al fondo". La ceiba fue declarada Patrimonio Natural en el 2001. Hoy tiene cerca de 35 metros de altura, ha sufrido podas con el tiempo y está dentro de un separador vial construido en la Avenida Universidad.
English: Ceiba of San Francisco. It is a beautiful Ceiba that decorates the front of the San Francisco Church. They state that "during the Guzmán Blanco government, the trunk of the tree was surrounded by a lime and ridge defense with wooden facilities to serve as a desk and a messenger for traders and brokers who originally worked in La Bolsa Corner, at the time of to register their transactions.This fact served as inspiration for the current logo of the Caracas Stock Exchange, which presents a drawing of the tree in the foreground, with the church of San Francisco and the Palace of the Academies in the background. The ceiba was declared Natural Heritage in 2001. Today it is about 35 meters high, has undergone pruning over time and is inside a road separator built on Avenue Universidad. |
