English: This is the Isaac Fuller engraving and title page from the 1709 Pierce Tempest edition of Iconologia, an emblem book written in 1593 by Cesare Ripa, the pseudonym for Giovanni Campani. The first edition was not illustrated, but a second edition of 1603 included engravings. The Tempest edition of 1709, in English, included the Fuller engraving. |
