Liverpools vel mest kjente landemerke, er 'The Pier Head' eller 'Liverpool Waterfront', som det også kalles. Dette er de tre kjente bygningene, The Liver Building, The Cunard Building og The Port of Liverpool Building.
Det var fra en terminal i dette området, kalt 'The Prince's Landing Stage', at Amerika-båtene til The Cunard Line, og The White Star Line, gikk fra. The White Star Line, som blant annet hadde skipet RMS «Titanic», ble senere tatt over av The Cunard Line. The Cunard Line, skiftet da, i 1934, navn til The Cunard White Star Line, men skiftet senere navn tilbake igjen til The Cunard Line.
