Description
English: Prussia monument (Preußendenkmal) at Heldermann Park (Heldermannpark) in Ibbenbüren, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The memorial was erected in 1902. It is listed as a cultural heritage monument.
Deutsch: Das Preußendenkmal im Heldermannpark in Ibbenbüren, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Das von dem Bildhauer August Schmiemann, Münster, aus Eifeler Sandstein geschaffene Denkmal wurde anlässlich der 200-jährigen Zugehörigkeit der Obergrafschaft Lingen zum Königreich Preußen zu Ostern 1902 auf dem Oberen Markt aufgestellt. Daran erinnert die Inschrift: „Errichtet von dem Amte Ibbenbüren zur Erinnerung an die Feier der 200-jährigen Zugehörigkeit der Obergrafschaft Lingen zum Königreich Preußen.“ 1924 wurde der Gedenkstein an die Münsterstraße (vor der Werthmühle) umgesetzt. 1984 zog das Preußendenkmal auf den fertiggestellten Neumarkt um. Im Jahr 2019 wurde es erneut umgesetzt und am 29. März 2019 im Heldermannpark aufgestellt. Seit 1985 steht es als „profanes Denkmal“ komplett unter Denkmalschutz (Inventar-Nr. A 32). „Dieses Denkmal ist ein bedeutendes Beispiel für Gedenkstätten historischer Stilgestaltung und für die Ibbenbürener Stadtgeschichte“, heißt es zur Begründung in der Denkmalliste des Kreises Steinfurt.
