Description

Excurs to the background:
In Italian occupated territories of the former Austrian-Hungarian monarchy was not introduced the "Lire" as new currency, rather the old Austrian "Krone" (= crown = "corona") was kept as circulation currency. Italian money had no validity (with exception of Dalmatia in later time), so that the usable stamps became an overprint according to the nominal value in the local valid currency.

This stamp was postal valid in South Tyrol, Dalmatia, and Trieste after the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.; The ultimative annexion of South Tyrol by Italia took place on , which also terminated the validity of the overprint stamps in this area.
