Title
IOW-BFD350 Medieval to Post-Medieval Spindle Whorl
Description
English: A complete Iron Age or Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) lead-alloy spindle whorl.

This whorl is sub-circular in plan and the upper and lower faces are flat. The edges are rounded. It has a central hole, 8.7mm in diameter and its walls are vertical and smooth. No visible decoration.

Height: 6.13mm; diameter: 30.11mm. Weight: 34.89g.

A cautious dating of Roman to post-Medieval is suggested as spindle whorls are difficult to date out of context.
