IOW-5D2D47 Roman Steelyard Weight
Description
English: An incomplete Roman cast lead-alloy steelyard weight (AD 43-410).

The suspension loop is missing.
The weight is bi-conical in form and has an inverted cone-shaped depression at the apex. This depression accommodated an iron suspension loop which is now missing. However, the base and sides of the hole are coated with iron corrosion.
This weight is corroded and has traces of a buff patina. It has a number of old scuffs and dents.

Height: 37.91mm; diameter: 46.11mm. Weight: c. 343.0g.
