Description
English: INS Venduruthy, the Base Depot Ship at Naval base Kochi, celebrated 79th anniversary on 23 June 2022. Venduruthy, prior it’s commissioning, was a Naval contingent under a Royal Indian Navy Officer who assumed the duties of NOIC in August 1939. The contingent was tasked to cater to the requirements of Local Naval Defense, running a Port Wireless Signal Station and an Examination Service. The unit was commissioned on 23 June 1943. Since then Venduruthy has continued to grow over the years. The unit provides all administrative support to SNC ships, air base, repair yards, hospital and professional schools at Kochi. The Commanding Officer joined the anniversary celebrations along with officers, sailors, DSC jawans, and civilian personnel in accordance with Naval customs and traditions. He also awarded Proficiency awards/ certificates to meritorious personnel.
