Description
English: INAS 550 celebrated its 63rd anniversary on 17 June 2022. The oldest air squadron of the Indian Navy, INAS 550 has operated over 14 different types of aircraft. A historically significant squadron, its aircraft have participated in major campaigns including the Indo-Pak conflict of 1971, Op Pawan in 1988, Op Vijay in 1999 and Op Madad in 2018. Currently, INAS 550 operates Dornier, Microlight aircraft and undertakes training of MR Pilots, Air Operations Officers and pilots of Friendly Foreign Countries. Located at INS Garuda in Kochi, the Squadron undertakes extensive flying for sea Surveillance and support to ships at sea. On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary, the Squadron conducted an entertainment program and was presented a token of appreciation by the Sri Lankan Air Force officers currently undergoing flying training in the Squadron.
