ⵜⴰⵎⴰⵣⵉⵖⵜ : Infotafel zu einem Ausstellungsensemble im Industriemuseum Ennepetal. Text:
Als Schmiede bezeichnet man die Werkstatt eines Schmieds, in der Metalle durch Warmverformung in Form, Gefügestruktur und Oberfläche verändert werden. Hierzu gehört ein Schmiedeofen mit offener Feuerstelle, an der das Werkstück soweit erhitzt wird, dass es bearbeitet werden kann. Es sind mehrere Ambosse vorhanden, auf denen die Werkstücke mit Hämmern in mehreren Arbeitsschritten in die gewünschte Form gebracht werden. Oftmals werden auch mit Schmiedepressen die Werkstücke in die gewünschte Form gebracht. Hier ausgestellt ist eine Vielzahl an Zanhen, Hämmern, Ambossen und anderen Arbeitsgeräten, die von verschiedenen Spendern zur Ausstattung der Schmiede abgegeben wurden.
