English: Maj. Gen. Michael Shields, outgoing future operations director, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, and Col. Michael Howard, incoming future operations director, IJC, toured the Detention Facility in Parwan Oct. 16, 2012, to gain a better understanding of the strategic-level mission performed at the DFIP. Shields will move on to be the deputy director at the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization in Arlington, Va. The tour was guided by Col. Robert Taradash, commander, Task Force Protector. Task Force Protector personnel ensure the secure and humane care, custody and control of the detainees within the facility. In this photo, Taradash (left) gives Shields a brief overview of the facility. |
