Description
English: When InterCity 125 trains were introduced in 1976 the guard was expected to ride in the rear of the power car, however this was found to be rather noisy so new second class coaches were built with a luggage van and guard's office which were marshalled next to the power car at the second class end of the train. Here, forty years later, is an East Midlands Trains' set showing the luggage van in the power car (43089, left) and coach (44047, right) at Nottingham.
