Summary
[edit]DescriptionIBM PS2 MCA Model 70,bare motherboard.jpg |
English: Internal design of the IBM PS/2 Model 70, showing the bare motherboard (or planar as IBM liked to call it), with the 72-pin memory SIMMs and the CPU daughterboard.
IBM designed the model 70 to have an upgradeable CPU, and the system could accept both the 386 and the 486 CPU just by changing the carrying dautherboard for the processor. The power supply was further optimized in the model 70 to eliminate all power cables completely. Instead it plugs directly into the motherboard with a multi-pin plug in the side of the power supply. |
