Description

My rental car parked at the Bugak Skyway parking area.

One add-on feature seen in this photo is a navigation system. Manufactured by iNavi, it was much better than any Garmin or TomTom navigation system I see stateside; the screen is bigger and more legible, the map data includes speed camera and hazard (falling rock, fog-prone area, frequent accident area) information, and auxiliary features include the ability to receive Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) TV signals. It only cost me ₩16,000 to rent the navigation system for the entire duration of my rental, and it was a lifesaver especially in places with complex street layouts, including Seoul.

Sadly, iNavi's operating system is tightly integrated with its map data, and iNavi cannot be loaded with non-South Korean maps; I would have loved to purchase one and bring it stateside, had North American add-on maps been available. Another related issue is that iNavi's interface is in Korean only.
