Description
English: The area of the hystersis loop shows the amount of energy loss due to dissipated heat.

(a) hysteresis curve for magnetically "soft" ferromagnetic materials that have a low retentivity making them ideal for use in electromagnets, solenoids or relays.

(b) hysteresis curve for magnetically "hard" ferromagnetic materials that have a high retentivity making them excellent for producing permanent magnets.
