| Description |
English: Hymenophyllum cupressiforme is an epiphytic fern from the Hymenophyllaceae family, Yarra Ranges National Park, Victoria, Australia. Representatives of the genus Hymenophyllum possess leaves (fronds) consisting of only one layer of cells and containing no stomata, which is unique among vascular plants. Such a structure makes these ferns susceptible to desiccation, so they only occur in very humid climates. In addition to the leaves, the photo shows sori (clusters of sporangia), covered with a membranous indusium.
Українська: Hymenophyllum cupressiforme − епіфітна папороть з родини Мембранолисті (Hymenophyllaceae), Національний Парк Ярра Рейнджес, Вікторія, Австралія. Представники роду Hymenophyllum мають листки (вайї), що складаються з лише одного шару клітин і не містять продихів, що унікально серед судинних рослин. Така будова, добре помітна на світлині, робить ці папороті вразливими до висихання, і тому вони трапляються лише у дуже вологому кліматі.
