Description
English: Creator: Unidentified.

Location: Peel Island, Queensland.

Description: Caption: Surrounded by shark-infested waters, Peel Island in Brisbane's Moreton Bay was considered the perfect location for a quarantine station. Then, in the early 20th century, it became a lazaret to those with leprosy.
The pictured huts were constructed for the white male patients and there were eleven in total. They were each 10 feet by 12 feet, lined, ventilated, lit and had a window. They were furnished with a four post bed, spring mattress, table, chair and chest of drawers. (Description supplied with photograph).

(Description fournie avec la photo).
