| Description |
English: Hut foundations, Tintagel Island There have been many theories about the history of settlement on Tintagel Island. Pottery from the 5th and 6th centuries has been found in these hut sites on the sheltered east side of the island, and a trading settlement of the Celtic kings is thought likely. A slate with an inscription including the name "Artognou" lends support to the King Arthur theory, or was it the headquarters of King Mark? |
