Summary
[edit]DescriptionHussey Tower - geograph.org.uk - 1155846.jpg |
English: Hussey Tower Grade II* listed brick tower built in 1460 for Richard Benyngton, Collector of Taxes and Justice of the Peace for Boston. Benyngton died in 1475 and the Hussey family took over ownership, though in 1537 Lord Hussey was executed for his part in the Lincolnshire Rising and ownership passed to King Henry VIII. In 1549 the tower was gifted to the Boston Corporation and it has remained in public ownership ever since. |
