Summary
[edit]DescriptionHusky Protected Support Vehicle is Secured Onboard a C17 Transport Aircraft Bound for Afghanistan MOD 45153115.jpg |
English: RAF and civilian movement staff are pictured loading Husky patrol vehicles onto an RAF C-17 at an airbase in the Middle East, which is home to the RAF 901 Expeditionary Air Wing B Flt, to be delivered to British troops in Afghanistan.
Husky is a new protected support vehicle, providing commanders with a highly mobile and flexible load carrying vehicle. This has been designed for a range of Afghanistan missions, including transporting food, water and ammunition, and acting as a command vehicle at headquarters. Some vehicles will be fitted out as protected ambulances. Equipped with a machine gun, Husky will join its sister vehicles Wolfhound and Coyote as part of the Tactical Support Hub. 901 EAW B Flt provides a strategic Air transport Hub and Passenger Handling Facility to ensure the continuity of the 2nd Air Line Of Communication (ALOC), an integral part of the UK Strategic Airbridge in direct support of Operation HERRICK and Operation KIPION.
