| Description |
English: Huntspill River from Sloway Bridge View north east along the river which drains a large part of the Somerset levels. In the distance can be seen the sluices located in ST2945 where the Huntspill drains into the Stockland Reach of the tidal River Parrett estuary just south of Burnham on Sea. The sluice gates allow the river to drain into the estuary at low tide and prevent the high tides from flooding the levels. The water levels on the levels can thus be maintained at a level well below that of the high tide. |
