Summary
[edit]| Description | Ministry of Supply "Austerity" type 18" 0-6-0ST, Hunslet No.3194 of 1944; it was War Department No.75143 and post war went to the National Coal Board (Opencast Executive) at Westfield, Lothian as "WL No.1" but it was also numbered NCB-74143-OE (both numbers were carried all it's life). It was later transferred to NCB-OE Onllwyn and leased to contractors Derek Crouch & Sons Ltd, who operated the Maes Gwyn Open Cast Site. The loco is fitted with an underfed stoker, a gas-producer system and four-jet Kylpor blast-pipe with stovepipe chimney. Unusually for an NCB loco, it is in blue livery. Note NCB 14 ton wooden coal wagons. The photograph was taken at Onllwyn Shed with a Kowa SET, 10/68. | |||||||||||||
