Summary
[edit]DescriptionHumboldt Redwoods - Flickr - Steven Bratman.jpg |
These are Sequoia semperverins, the tallest trees in the world, but not the biggest. That distinction belongs to Sequoia gigantea, found only in Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. It's very hard to photograph a redwood forest in a way that captures the experience of walking in one -- the sense of moving in the presence of great, ancient silent beings. The fallen redwood and my friend give some notion of the scale, but not of the emotion. |
