Summary
[edit]DescriptionHumboldt Forum Sculpture Hall - Ram's heads 02.jpg |
English: The Humboldt Forum, Berlin, Germany is on the former site of the Berlin Palace, damaged in World War II and demolished afterwards. The sculpture hall of the Humboldt Forum displays sculptures and sculptural fragments from the old palace, as well as some 21st-century reproductions of these. These six ram's-head reliefs from the old palace are identified as belonging to the Skulpturensammlung und Museum für Byzantinische Kunst — Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, inv. no. F 23-27, a bit confusing because that is five inventory numbers for six reliefs. It is believed that an original was carved by Andreas Schlüter and the rest were made by various sculptors following his design. |
