Nederlands: De huipil is een eenvoudig rechthoekig, mouwloos kledingstuk dat de schouders en een deel van de armen bedekt en in de lengte tot op de heupen kan vallen, maar elders tot aan de enkels reikt. In het Mixteeks wordt de huipil ook wel ‘Shiku lestu’ genoemd. Met het dragen ervan worden vele aspecten van het sociale leven tot uiting gebracht.
Huipil samengesteld uit drie geweven banen die met een bruine siersteek ('randa') aan elkaar zijn gezet. De banen zijn gedecoreerd met ingeweven motieven die in horizontale rijen zijn gegroepeerd en van elkaar gescheiden worden door een bruin streeppatroon. Het motief dat centraal op de baan staat zijn kleurrijke bloemmotieven, dit motief staat voor het vrouwelijke en het leven. Zowel boven als onder deze rij bloemen zijn roze diamant motieven te vinden, diamant motieven staan voor de vier windrichtingen. Op borst en rug, onder de hals is de decoratie massiever. Het bloemmotief en het diamantmotief zijn hier ook terug te vinden. Over deze motieven is centraal een horizontale zigzag motief te vinden, die te associëren is met vruchtbaarheid.
