After Hugh V. Duke's death on D-Day, 6 June, 1944, age 25, this b/w photograph was in the possession of his parents, William Victor Duke (1886-1954) & Mildred Jessie Duke (1889-1971), later Hugh's elder brother Patrick Harold Duke (1913-2004), followed by his son Patrick Henry Duke (b. 1952) who generously presented it to Hugh David Loxdale (b. 1950) in 2019. The photo was taken in Malta, as its states in pencil under the photo on the right hand side, and was framed in Newton Abbot, Devon, UK, as recorded on the back of the frame.
