Photographed in Thirlmere Wood, Stevenage, on 3 February 2010 – a time of year I wouldn't have expected to see this. I have no idea what it is but the cap is about 11 inches across. There were four of five of them in the area but this was the only one that was intact. The closest thing to this I can see in my books is the Giant Funnel (Leucopaxillus giganteus) but I just don't know. |
